High Society
The people invited to the Ball of the Lost are no mere peasants- they are barons, duchesses, old wealth. They know how to behave, they are educated, they are civil in all matters, even with those they hate. They train their children in the art of manners, sending them to finishing schools and cotillions until they abide by the same code. Don't stand out enough to be rude. Be unique enough to catch the eye of the powerful. Climb the ladder.
Hiding in Plain Sight
The lords and ladies here look for dark corners of brightly lit rooms- you will find gossip being shared in ballrooms, rumormills cycling on walks around the grounds, secrets brought to light in the wee hours of dawn. Everyone's hiding something. If you can find it out, you can use it. If yours is found out, it can be used. Tread lightly.
Paramours, Piety, & Propriety
Of course, love in a regency setting is encouraged. Many hope to find a love match at this ball- there is room for it, certainly. Everyone who's anyone is here. But be careful not to be caught in the throes of your love, lest reproval come from the Church.
Political Intrigue
There's a war going on. You're in the King's Palace. The center of this half of the kingdom's political life. Of course, every person who influences the King's decisions is here. Of course, you can discover what they're up to. Of course, you'll have to take some risks to do so.
